Show off your Old English Game Bantams!!

I'm a sucker for a sale and pulled the trigger. I added a few oegbs on just to make sure I got them, and mathed out to get 20 new babies here in 2 weeks. That will give me time to prep, recover and rebuild. Maybe the third time is the charm.... and I guess I just won't ever leave town overnight either...

Did you do the bantam assortment? I need more chicks like I need a hole in the head but I ordered some anyway and they are at the post office now. I will post what I got in another thread :)
ETA I ordered 25, they sent 29, but one didn't make it. I think it was a silver sebright :hit

Well, I'm considering focusing on a few more pens of bantam cochins - different colors, and need to clear out a few pens to do that. So i listed several of my other breeds on CL and got a reply from a prior customer that said he may want all of the Old English. But there's no way i can part with all of them. So we're still negotiating which ones. I think we will probably just split my flock.
The good part is I'll get rid of a few older ones and get to raise a few of the younger ones.

Ah. I really like bantam cochins, and they sell REALLY well, too, especially if you get some less common colors. I brought splash pullets to a swap back in April and sold out of them (six, I think) within ten minutes. I have a male and female splash left and I am almost considering keeping them because I know the babies would sell like crack, but every rooster of the breed that I've tried to hang onto is just obnoxious...overly persistent with the ladies mainly.

Yep, they do sell really well here too. Especially frizzles, which I was trying to get away from, but now considering a pen with a frizzle rooster, just for that purpose.

Splashes and blues are my favorites. I now have a gorgeous mille fleur male but no females. I hatched a lovely little calico, but guess what... male... Ugh!

The OEGB's have not been the best sellers, and honestly, they haven't laid very well this year either. So, I figured while someone wants them, I'll go for it.
But they are still my favorite to spend time with and watch peck around. Luckily, hubby was the one that made the comment to keep a few of the little ones. He's usually the one saying "sell, sell, sell!" LOL

I am already running into the same problem as always though where once they arrive I simply can't choose to let any go! lol I always want to keep them and see how they grow out. I love surprise assortments. AND it looks like I finally got some self blues :love

I am not a fan of frizzles either but everyone just gobbles them up.

I am so in love with the MF / Calicos. They can be so hard to find though :( There is a facebook group for them, though, so maybe you can pick up a pullet or two that way. The chocolate and buff columbian mottled (I think its called) are also gorgeous.

If I had several pens of Bantam Cochins, I'd give up my incubators.
