Show off your Old English Game Bantams!!

It's baby day! So my chicken math has reached full blown insanity. I went to only get whatever female Oegb they had which turned out to be 3 of a mere 5 chicks. And you can't just buy 3 babies... so I got another rainbow of 13. Sebrights, frizzles, Cochins, japs... and one black silkie... :th

After yesterday's roo rehoming I'm at a head count of 26. And I'm brooding outdoors with the big kids to boot.

I think I've officially lost my mind.

This is the point where you have to be very careful. I started out with just a few birds of my Dad's after he passed. At one point last year I had around 300. I don't even include chicks in my head count anymore, just mature birds. I've done a self-intervention, and I'm down to about 35 adults, and at least that many chicks or young birds. Much more manageable.

If I had anything resembling a farm I think I'd be in much the same boat. My husband has been joking lately that someday we'll leave the city and he'll have his own flock of 50 Japanese (his favorite breed thus far) to play with. 300... my goodness, I'm trying to imagine that kind of morning routine!

I have been very good with number control... I'm under 50 still. Not by much, but I am.

56 including chicks right now I know where y'all are coming from they are very addicting. In a few weeks l have to cull some myself. My oegbs sit in my lap and get on my shoulder so they are lucky and won't be culled. It is hard to pick and choose though.

Husband teased that I couldn't start a morning without chickens and coffee. Had to tease him back.
