Jophus. Do you ever sell and mail hatching eggs? I am in North Eastern Mo and will be looking for OEGB eggs come spring. If I used shipped eggs I'd rather get them from the nearest distance available if possible.

I'm not NPIP, although I hope to be soon. If you were to show up here late spring and give me a weeks notice, I'd be happy to give you whatever I could collect in a week (and I have quite a few pullets/hens).

New Mexico huh, are you very high in elevation? I know some folks have trouble incubating eggs from lower elevations, shipped to high, so just curious.

I have a new layer, I'm getting 2 tiny eggs and one big one, but I also have a hen trying to be broody. I don't know how long she sits on the eggs before I take them from her, so I have been tossing them.

I just looked up Missouri's imported egg restrictions. Well that bites to put it simply.

Hurry up and get NPIP licensed, Jophus! We seldom get down to Arkansas, unfortunately. About as far south as we go is St. Louis and then it has to be something really special.

I was out to the coop this morning looking at my four little ones and I'm just about certain that Olive is an Oliver now. The 3 that I am certain are pullets have these rounded tail feathers and oh LOOK! He has sickle shaped tail feathers.

YAY! First time that I have been excited about having a cockerel pop up in a hatching! If they had been all hens I would have been okay with that. Can always find a little rooster for them. Not too thrilled if they had been cockerels but 3 pullets and 1 cockerel makes me want to break into a happy dance.

I am about 5000 ft. I have had trouble with shipped eggs but it really doesn't seem to matter where they are shipped from. I'll be sure to pay closer attention. That's interesting info. Thx!

Thanks! I think that broody has given up, since I keep taking the eggs from her. I do have a broody Serama next door to her, so the contagious air may waft over lol

Yea, look up incubating at higher altitudes. Interesting info on some threads. I guess it is more difficult due to the thinner air. Like when a cake mix has different baking directions for high altitudes. I can tag a friend that does well with it, if you'd like more info.
