Show off your Old English Game Bantams!!

Two weeks old and fingers crossed for girls. I'm seeing way too much comb development in the other 17 chicks, worried that I won't have two pullets to rub together after all these months of trying.

The Cochins are by far the most prominent and have the biggest combs, as does a d'Uccle and maybe that last Oegb. Posted the lot here-

Whenever I get bantam Cochins from Ideal, they are ALWAYS heavy on the males. Out of problem 7 or 8 of them that I've received as part of various bantam assortment shipments over the past year, I've only had two females, including the one from the current shipment which just died yesterday for some unknown reason.

ETA Out of the 25 assorted bantams that I received in May it looks like I have 10 males definitely and some others whose combs are a bit bigger than I like.

Oh dear, I don't like my suspected ratio either. Out of all my breeds, it seems very heavy on boys, who are all lovely and healthy, I haven't lost one out of the 20 I received. The 6 Cochins are the worst on male suspects with only one not growing any comb yet, I have no true certainty on the 3 Oegb, the 4 d'Uccles are questionable, so that leaves me with 3 japs, a buff orp, a sultan, and a Sumatra who all could change on me at any day now.

I'm worried I won't have enough girls to keep safe, happy and productive. If one of my btw japs or the Sumatra is boy I may keep them around as I hear they don't make for the worst roosters. So long as the stay relatively quiet, they won't get me into trouble.

Seems like we aren't very lucky this year. :/

Add me to the boy heavy hatches.
Actually my OEGBs gave me the best female ratio all year. One broody hatched 11 (I think i hatched a few of those in the bator) and 9 are girls. Then my next broody hatched 4 (3 female/1 male) but left 2 eggs. I incubated them for a couple more days and i think they are males. :( must be from my blue brassy hen, because the rest of mine are all SDW, and one mixed hen, but she was doing the sitting.

Speaking of blue brassy, here's the chick i hatched from her egg 9-1/2 weeks ago. She's on the left, so i guess she is blue silver duckwing, full silver duckwing on the right.

Excuse me while I drool over those pretty little ladies. :drool

Boldest of the bunch, my little Oegb chicks have been the front runners in today's adventure. A flooded basement quickly prompted a move out of the sopping wet brooder and into the new coop and of course that means a test drive in the run while the weather holds.
