Show off your Peas!

They're still the rusty brown color, which is why I'm still sticking with Purple. Muppet is a different color from them and I still believe she is Bronze because her green in her neck is a dark emerald green and there's not a lot of it. It's not bright like I've seen on IB hens' necks.

Majesty finally told me he loved me!

Okay, fine, he doesn't love me but they do love the feed bucket and certainly get excited when they see it now. As well as the clover, dandelion leaves and grass I pull for them.
Even Velocity was showing off for me. Tempo and Stars were more worried about the grain bucket at my feet than those silly boys showing off.

I am quite impressed with all the boys displaying and find it funny how much the girls like to pretend they are not interested.

Of course, some girls might just be snickering. Roche kicked Bridges butt a few times. Obviously more than I ever see because he started displaying for me.

Hershey and Jack still will not dislpay while I am in their stall but they are letting me get closer all the time. I think if Jack gets a girl then he will do better. Hershey just waits until I am outside the fence to show off. However, Zazous has started smacking me with his when I go in so I will give him treats and sweet words. Such silly birds.
How did I get so attached?

AND we had one wander up last week! He is staying around so now we have to catch him up before something finds him a delectable treat. Bears can be hungry this time of year and he isn't roosting very high since the girls are in the pens. So now I have another IB cock. More pens.......

I know- bad picture.
400
.. But I was excited to catch him in the act! The younger guys like me (I bring mealworms and berries), but he is still skeptical.

I took a bunch of pictures tomight but it was getting too dark again. And it had been raining on and off all day so their train feathers was wet and not fluffed out like they normally are. This is my IB B/S that is showing w/e this year. Better pics will be taken if the sun ever shines here again, but it is April, and something like April showers saying is true here today.

Peachecker, where are you??? Here is my Bronze 4 year old male named UPS. He was in a pen inside all winter with 3 other hens. The pen was roughly 8'x6'. I know that sounds terribly small but housing peas in the wintertime serves as protection from the elements and maintaining the birds health and getting them ready for spring breeding season. The metal roof he is sitting on is 3' above ground, and you can easily see his train touching the ground, and actually bending back as it lays on the ground. I know its close to 5' in length because I had to catch and carry him to this pen yesterday and it was almost impossible to open a doorway and get thru it without his train getting caught. You can bet I will get better pics but heres one example you do not need to pen off acres of land for only a few peas. I also discovered tonight one of his offspring from last year appears to have a white flight and a throat patch. Someone here is hiding something very good!!

Here is some terrbible pics of my Midnight B/S male named Majik. This guy almost rivals my BSSP male Roadtrip. You can bet better pics will come but if you squint you can see his train is also over 4' in length.Closer to 5' I'd say. He was in a 8'x8' pen Peachecker with 4 other hens all winter long.Like I say, better pics will be coming but Zaz wanted pics so I at least hope to appease her pic craze for a day or so.
