Show off your Peas!

Thanks ,the first on the movie is 20 month, the second 3 years, the third 6 years and the last 3 years

I love the plants you have in and around the aviaries leo7. The bamboo and palms are very beautiful. I really love tropical plants!

Here is an update on those rye grass seeds I threw out in the pen...The cold weather kept the grass from growing but now that it has warmed up and we got more rain, the grass is coming up even in the spots I didn't think it would grow. The peafowl are eating it, but not enough to where it is noticeable. I don't know what kind of grass works well in everyone's area or even if you have snow on the ground right now or not, but I highly recommend the rye grass. This spring-summer I would like to plant some warm weather grass too.

Aaron was stuck feeding the birds while I took photos haha...All 8 of them are in this photo.

Close up of the grass. I can't wait for it to get taller. These photos were taken yesterday and already there is more grass today!!! Watching the grass grow is awesome.

Smarty & Frosty walking around Aaron.

Close up of Peep's eye feathers.

Snow White. The grass is patchy but today it looked better. I don't know if it will fill in everywhere, but it is getting better with each day so who knows...

For anyone who wants to try rye grass - We got a full bag of it from the feed store and I got a scoop and a bucket and put some of the seeds in the bucket and walked around the pen throwing the seeds out all over. I used the whole bag for the 40x50ft pen. After I was done, the whole ground in the pen had a tan color because of all the seeds. After that, I got a metal rake and lightly raked the whole pen. Some areas I didn't rake that much. Then just wait for the rain to get the grass growing (you might want to put out the seeds the day before a rain). I didn't use fertilizer because since the peafowl are always pooping in the pen the ground is probably fertile enough. Rye grass won't grow here in the summer, but maybe for those of you in cooler climates it may grow well in the summer time.

Nice aviaries nice peas MinxFox. Peacocks like grass and other plants to eat. Unfortunately many breeder forgot this.

I planted grass I don't know what type it is I can ask my dad because he sells seed for a living so I just took some to plant for my peafowl along with alfalfa. First thing they ate was the alfalfa. Colbolt and Jadea ate all of it in just a week.
Chickens are jealous. First day I put them in.
Four days after.

I had grass in the aviary for a while after I built the aviary, but eventually it went away and I am glad to have it back. I don't want to have a dirt/sand pen again if I can help it. Not only do the peafowl like the grass like you said, but also it just looks a whole lot nicer and will help keep the whites more clean for sure!

You should ask him what kind it is. I am starting to get really interested in different grasses to try. Texaspeafowl has some of my favorite peafowl aviaries. They have some really nice grass -

That is a great video leo7! Your peafowl are gorgeous, and I love your pens. Nice and grassy and spacious. That was really cool seeing how friendly they are in a video, since I only saw images previously on your website. How are your birds so friendly?

Hello Blue Creek Farm, all our Peacocks and Pheasants are tame. My wife and I eat only vegetarian food maybe the birds feel this and are therefore so tame.
Also Green Peafowl are very smart and they know whether human is a man or a woman and all Green Peafowl love women.

Very pretty birds leo7. I love that tameness of yours as well. That ryegrass works good minxfox. I have to plant on the outside of the pens because of my quackers it would never work LOL! I am going to plant some before the next rain cause the birds do love to eat it and it really helps birds like my geese and widgeon breed a bit better.

I'm hoping to grow grass in my new pen... Have to wait til it gets a bit warmer. It looks great Minxfox!
Leo7 , pretty birds and I love that you say your greens love women:) that's just neat!
