Can you believe it's 2014?? Crazy! Anywho, I'm not-so-patiently waiting for my two peahens Tulsa and Tamina to start laying. They'll both be two in June, I think. Prince started getting his first set of eye-feathers several months back, it seems like every day he just gets prettier. Hoping for lots of peachicks this year. I'd like to hatch a few from my peas, and then maybe swap somebody for a different line and color to add to my group. Looking forward to what 2014 is going to bring!

Blessings -

That is an interesting observation. I hope to one day get pure green peafowl.
I hope to get green peafowl too. I have read that some people have aggressive green peafowl while others don't. When I went to Rocking BAB Ranch the friendly Pavo Muticus Josh had would come up to the pen and cock his head and look at you. Josh told us he does that is if to size you up. I think he said he can be a little territorial but he seemed nice to me. He didn't peck me hard.

I think green peafowl could distinguish between male and female people. For one thing, I think a lot of these studies they do on peafowl are with domestic peafowl. Wild animals seem to always be smarter. Wild animals have to be smarter to know where to find the right food, deal with predators, etc. Domestic animals don't have to think so much about where to find the right food, avoiding certain areas with possible predators, etc. I think that wild peafowl are probably a lot smarter. I talked to a guy on a forum one time about his green peafowl. He free-ranged them for a little while. He said you can just tell they are very smart - smarter than the India blues.
