Yes that is Gracie she is my critter getter and the first one the birds hide behind when there is trouble around.
She is bred to catch hogs but i do not hunt her any more ,even with a vest she could get hurt and i need her here to much to risk it.

My rotty is also great with the birds

Thanks ZAZ for the warm welcome. We do plan to let our Peas free range. Our chickens free range during the day and coop at night. The Guineas and Turkey also free range and roost in the barn, top of the coop, etc at night. I think that we will keep the Peachicks penned though throughout the winter and turn them out in the early spring. The little IBs are still pretty small and the Spaldings are growing like weeds but still small enough to worry me half to death. We are very fortunate to have our farm and also be surrounded by neighboring pastures and soy/corn fields. Neighbors will never be a probablem, we just always have to be on our toes for fox, coyote and coons.....

I hope to take pics and post them soon.

You folks post the most beautiful pictures !!!!!

How did you get your dogs to do that Zazouse?

Star them out young and always have some broody hens with chicks is a big help, puts them pups in their place when they are young.
I also belive it is easer to raise up one at a time, but have been sucessiful in raising up 4 at a time it just takes alot of watching and catching any bad behavior and stop it, my voice alone will stop any dog on this place from whatever they are doing they are a great bunch. I am proud of them all

There are guinea keets and chicks in with them.
When my guinea and chickens come up with babies i catch them and put them in the brooder box, after a few days i open the door and they can come and go from the box to the ground brooder .
