Dirty girl, it would appear this is how the white hens camouflage themselves when laying season starts, early in the morning while they are still wet they will dust bath leaving them covered with mud, it does make them very hard to spot when sitting in the shadow of the woods and brush, like the IB's if they do not move when i am in the area hunting for them on a nest i would not see them.
I have never seen the IB hens do this only the whites
This hen is trying to outsmart me, i took her eggs and now i think she has started laying again and now she watches me watch her,
she took off running flew over the roof of the house and ran around the house back to the back yard, flew up on the barn and over to the other side, by time i got there she was gone and i lost site of her.
look who i caught, you can see her tail in the above photo by the lattice work.
