Casportpony,,crooked toe needs to be addressed the first day they are hatched.I had a Midnight B/S that had severe crookedness in all toes on both feet.I waited for 3 days then started my patent-pending shipping tape remedy but every few hours I noticed the tape was off probably from other peas picking at it,ect. Finally on about day 4 I got some 100mph duck tape and used but I never could get his outside toes to lay straight and flat as I folded over the other half of the duck tape on top of his feet.Seemed like the first joint of those toes was already "off alignment" but I thought if I got them close they would stay straight.Normally only 1 day is needed with the entire foot taped with shipping tape but I left the duck tape on for 4 days and when I took it off his toes was just as crooked as wehn I started. He looks terrible now, almost to the point I've considered putting him down because I don't think he'll be able to get around when he's older good enough to consider breeding with.Crooked toes needs to be addressed when the peachick is dried off completely and 2 days later--fixed!!
New2,,it's still early but next spring I don't really see a use for Thang here,,unless he developes into a show stopper with a train that is unmatched in beauty against the other 8 adult male peas here.He has a very long, steep hill to climb because my charcoal pied w/e male,(Kingsford)and my BSSP male(Roadtrip) already are growing new trains with easily noticable white eyes in them.,not to mention my Purple B/S Silver pied male will be 3 next year as well to compete against.Thang needs to kick some butt with tail growing beauty over the next 5 months,,or he may wind up at Mt Hope.
