Show off your Peas!

Yep things are greening up especially since I threw out the grass seed sooner this year than I did last year. I am having gardening fever! I am very frustrated right now because many people and websites say cannas are some of the easiest tropical plants to grow, but I have a terrible time of growing them. They don't form a nice lush clump for me and after two or more years of no blooms they finally bloomed last year.

I have been reading this website here a lot for help: http://www.cooltropicalplants.com/ I want to create a garden like the one on that site. I might need to get a different variety of canna. I am thinking Canna Warscewiczii might be a good one to try seeing as my hybrid variety doesn't cut it.

I like how even birds can have beauty marks.

I try to see if there is a way to tell them apart from their beak. I know that the inside of Alto's mouth is a grey/purple color but Peep's mouth is pink on the inside. Alto has some chow chow in him.

Only problem i have with cannas is the darn caterpillars love them. Mine like to grow best in full sun.

You all take the most amazing photos! I would love to have a camera that was point, shoot and get it right! LOL I do not have the knack for beautiful photos but I do have beautiful birds! Just can't express it as well as you all! I am sure it starts with a great camera and then have the skills to capture it all.

You guys should join the Flapper contest. So far only chicken, ducks, geese, and my peacock Colbolt. I'm the first peacock entry. Here's the link.https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...-contest-for-the-2015-byc-easter-hatch-a-long. It's kind of tuff since peafowl usually jump then flap so it was hard getting these photos. * represents the photos I entered. Rule is they can't come off the ground so I chose photos were he's perching or him landing.

I really wanted to entire this one

As we can see ... pure white peacock ( Pavo cristatus alba ) can have a yellow face !
So do you think they aren't Spaldings? That would be nice. 2 of my 3 white peafowl I was given as peachicks. As they got older I suspected they might be low % spaldings. I have no info on their parents or the breeder who bred them. A friend just gave them to me and they are from up north somewhere.
