Show off your Peas!

The first is a Purple BS out of a Purple BS Pied daddy, so she is split either Pied or white. The second is questionable, Father was a Cameo Pied WE split to Peach and mom was a Peach. Sometimes she looks Cameo and other times she looks Peach. The orange color shows more in sunlight.

Ok, thank you! She's beautiful though!

I used to trust the shape of the tail support fan, to differentiate juvenile males from females, however I have found that it is not always accurate. These are both hens of the same age and one has the nice even round tail fan, while the other has much longer feathers in the center, looking like a males shape. They do not make it easy.
If you ever want to get rid of that hen in pic 2, just let me know as you well know she is unique. Very nice hens and great examples, thank you for sharing. Gerald Barker

Isn't the second hen the same bought as chick from 2014 hatch? Well in this image she looks more like a cameo.

That is Peaches, my friend hatched her in 2014 and I traded him my Bronze male chick for her(Peaches). As she ages her back looks more and more like a Cameo, gray brown feathers, but her breast and tail remain a very light orange color, and the wing feathers above the white primaries are dark orangey red, what color are a Cameo hen's wing feathers? I wonder also if I am seeing some of the fading out that the sex-linked birds are known for.

These are cameo hens, if she looks more orange than brown she should be peach, here is my hen which I'm thinking she is peach, still not sure though peach color got me confused everytime.

Today I took a few photos of the peafowl. I didn't get any photos of my adult peahens because they all left the big aviary and were snooping around in the peachick's pen eating any leftover food they had and jumping in the dog boxes.

Frosty started displaying. He has proven to be a really good model for photographs because he loves to pose, arch his neck, etc. Today for some of the photos of him I told him to stand still and keep his pose and he did haha.

Raptor was displaying a lot as well. Here is Frosty and Raptor next to each other.

Closeup of Raptor. I am having fun watching his wings get more blue.

Raptor's playmate, Flip Flop, was pecking my fingers. She is a really sweet young peahen.

Raptor

Raptor's face is nice and yellow. I can't wait for him to get that light blue on his face as well. His crest is getting nicer too.

Here is Alto probably waiting for food.

Frosty after displaying.

Peep getting his face scratched. As you can see he is missing a few crest feathers. I have yet to find out what peafowl is bullying him (probably on the roost at night) but I have a theory that it is Frosty picking on his crest. I will be moving Peep out of this aviary eventually.

Frosty - I like how the herl on a white peacock's train is so noticeable.

Raptor

Frosty by the clumping bamboo. I was trying to get Peep to jump up on the log to get his photo, but he wouldn't do it. Frosty jumped up though proving that he was willing to model a lot today. And to think he used to stop displaying when he saw me with a camera.
