Show off your Peas!

A few weeks ago it was National FFA Week and for one of the days it was dress up as your favorite animal. Unfortunately I tried to get my hair to be blue, use jell to make it look like a peacock crest, and tried to color my face entirely blue. Didn't work out as well so I went with this.

Well, How'd it go? Win anything? By the way, with the blue suit on, we shall call you.. Spalding

If you ever do this again try putting blue hair chalk in your hair. It makes your hair look like you dyed it without the permanent, damaging effects.

Does anyone have some nice photos they wouldn't mind me using in the magazine? The first magazine is at the printers and I am working on the next one at the moment. Currently I am on the two middle pages, which are the photo pages which will have a total of 6 peafowl photos. I already have one so I need 5 more. One of Zazouse's photos is going to be on the cover of this issue I am working on.

OK well this is a super late response! Lol

I am glad things worked out well in the long run! Nice new high percentage Spalding peacock by the way!

Thanks! We are really glad to have him, although we still miss our old boy... mom is still insisting there was something so special about that bird that even this guy doesn't quite have! I will say one thing though, we are definitely hooked on Spaldings now, myself included. Usually I prefer a tamer bird over a flightier one but not in this case apparently!

He's gorgeous!

Thanks! We think so to. And I absolutely *love* his voice! Much nicer sounding than the Blue's harsh screeching for sure!

Very nice HP indeed and sorry for your loss. Im glad to see it worked out. Keep us posted, we've been missing you.

Thanks Gerald! If you think he's a nice bird than it must be true!

@QueenMisha
So sorry about your loss, but congrats on the new boy! :clap

I hope you don't mind if I make a suggestion based on my own California experience?
I'm not sure what your exact aviary situation is, of course, but I'm guessing you need some more predator-proofing on that pen.

Usually I would agree but I'm not too worried; the pea aviary is literally a ten foot walk from the front door, and we have four dogs including a very big, and currently very hormonal German Shepherd. I don't think we've ever had another animal come within 50 yards of the house thanks to those guys!

We will however soon be moving the peas and putting in a more permanent aviary... that will be better predator-proofed because it will be down below the house and not in an area where the dogs don't often go. I plan on burying wire, and using 5x16', 2x2 inch welded wire panels for the outdoor fencing and will probably be picking up an older Tuffshed for them to sleep in. All covered in gamebird netting. Always expanding when it comes to my projects!

I tried using chalk the day before because Monday was dress like one of your FFA Advisors and the one I tried to do has blue hair. The best I got was blue highlights. I probably should've bought two sticks. I was able to wash it out of my hair thankfully. I just got some new photos so I will send them to you.

I didn't win the raffle drawing. Did have fun though. They are attached to my hair with bobby pins. I was half tempted to put more but I was running out of time.
