I thought you said your run was 8 x 8?, 64 sq ft is only a little over half the recommended 100 sq ft per bird quoted here most often. Still, he is in beautiful condition, so that little pen must be big enough to keep him from damaging his train.
Yep. He doesn't even take up half of the pen. When fanning he still has at least a foot or 2 from tip of the train in all directions.

How old is he? That seems like a very small train, my mature males have trains that are about 8 ft. wide, they have 12x12 indoor pens and they have a foot or two of room in all directions in 12x12. If he is only 3 or 4 that would explain the small train. And I just noticed that the tips are missing from the longest horizontally held train feathers, the ones that look like a "Y" on the end are broken off. He is probably breaking them off on the wire fencing, 8x8 is a bit tight for a mature male.

Not to change the subject, but I have a problem. Look at the pix. He or she is the same age as the other 3. They are 1 week old and are all eating an drinking. Look how much smaller the littler one is. She had a difficult birth, but she made it through it. Any suggestions to make her grow a little faster??

Try giving it extra goodies like crickets and mealworms maybe?

He's three years old and those feathers broke off in the chicken coop. It's 8'x8'x8'. I know the photo is bad but I hope you can see the ends.
