He might not be a spalding like I thought before. This recent photo looks really good. I will say I am 100% sure he is not a Burmese. I realize that is what he was sold as and you don't care what he is since you are using him for Spalding breeding, but a Burmese peacock would not be that brightly colored. The blue on his wings are more like Javanese or Indo-Chinese green. He was purchased as a Burmese Green, but some members have expressed the opinion that he is a high% Spalding. Personally I don't care, I do not breed greens only spaldings so his offspring are always offered as spaldings. He is a nice tame bird, not aggressive and will eat from our hands, that is what matters to me. Thank you for the compliment, we think he's pretty georgeous too!

Burmese - They are dark and not as shiny.
Very thin blue lining - These are new feathers.
Fred - wayyy brighter than a Burmese.
I am not trying to argue about anything, but I just find it lame that he was sold to you as a Burmese, and after seeing Burmese in person I can tell you a Burmese would never shine like that - even with new feathers - so the seller either doesn't have real Burmese or they mixed up their birds. Did you get him fairly young? Young green peafowl look just about the same, so they could have easily mislabeled him. Fred is very pretty thought whatever he is, and he produces nice looking Spaldings. Do you have more photos of him?![]()
