When I lived in Wichita there were a few annual nesting sites, one of them was about a half mile from my house. It was always a big draw for the local shutterbugs to track the activities of the nesting birds. Seems like the eagles set their nests in March and were usually gone by May.

DW used to watch an eagle nest cam at Boomer lake in Stillwater Oklahoma, they also had one at Kaw lake, both of them are on the internet.

We had a nesting pair as well when I lived by lincoln, Nebraska. Loved watching them!

Also once, when I was sitting at the computer, a bunny came racing by our picture window, and right on his heels was a snowy owl. Most beautiful thing I have ever seen, and all about 15 ft away from my nose. They went out of sight of my view so couldn't determine if bunny got away or not.

I think there are some bald eagle pairs that stay put year round, just as some Canadian Geese have settled into places they like, but primarily they come south where we live in the winter. That's why @KsKingBee and I see them in the winter months. Here's a range map I found:

Oh that makes sense... Sorry I just know that we have a pair that stays all year on the river next to our house. And I watched a documentary and they never migrated but have been in those year round areas. I have found that you cant really trust all documentaries. I just remembered there must be a few more eagles that stay year round. I live about 25 min. away from the alleghany national forest which I think is the largest forest in PA. But I was involved for the last two years checking for golden eagles in the national forest and we saw many bald eagles in the both seasons. We set up a trail cam in front of a pile of road killed deer we dragged to the middle pf the forest and actually got pictures of the elusive golden eagle. And 6 bobcats in one picture!!!

We also got many pics of bald eagles. I live on the orange and blue line so maybe I get some that breed in canada and migrate to USA in winter and vise versa.

I've seen some documentaries were I want to try and reach through the screen a hit them. One person called a Texas Longhorn a Watusi. There are horns are completely different. It wasn't just oops I said this when I was suppose to say this, it was the entire documentary he kept calling the Texas Longhorn a Watusi.

I bet he feels good in it, mine are stretched out all over the place trying to catch the random rays, it has been cloudy for days and days, we need some UV's here.

Yes they are loving the random sunlight spots, they move every half an hour or so to find a new spot of sun. It has been very dreary here as well. I have been outside more today then I have all last week.
They are really displaying, and talking today

Too cool! You got me curious, so I did a little more reading... Bald Eagles have pretty much recovered as a species (remember DDT?

) and are now nesting lots of places. They've actually recovered to the point that they are off the threatened list, and they came off the endangered list awhile back.

They eat lots of fish, as well as water birds (like ducks and geese) and pretty much anything else that's convenient. I loved the line that said around the Chesapeake Bay, they are now the single largest predator of ... RACOONS! Go eagles!

I would love to see the photos from that trail cam... I love trail cam photos, there is often such neat stuff in them.
