I agree better to be safe then deal with a problem that I don't need...all my ten peafowl are in good condition...the problem is I cant see him im not close to him so mom was the one that went over there and see them and she doesn't know anything about birds...and I have no way over that far...man this so puts me in a dilemma....I really love birds...and for great prices....just so happens that Im new at the bird thing so I can only imagine the problems that birds can have...I did raise two white from two days old and they are in great health with no problems....so...I guess I have to think about what im going to do..thanks for the input...he moved them indoors not to long ago when the weather got colder so they haven't been in there that long...and the ib male is separate from them right now as well the only birds in the pics are the white male, ib hen, and two I think bs pied hens....

I'm worried about those two "buddy" birds... they look like they may not be healthy. Does anyone else see what I think I'm seeing here?

I see it also, feathers looked ruffled , wings dropped on the right hand birds ,feathers could be they were just caught or have not dust bathed. drooped wings do not always indication of illness but seeing them with ruffled feathers in a photo sure will make you wonder.
Photos are not real clear so it may not be anything.
Mabe when he can get them outside in the natural lighting he can get clearer photos.

Birdman, you've been building like mad... do you have a way to segregate these birds from your original stock?

I feel bad for these birds and the elderly owner. So maybe if it were me, and I had a way to segregate and quarantine these new birds from any contact with your old birds, I would take them and quarantine them, and really, really check them out, take fecals to vet, worm, treat for coccidia, and watch them really, really closely.

If you don't have a way to segregate these birds from your old birds (and if you don't, you are taking a huge chance whenever you introduce new stock), then maybe you could check into their health farther or keep them at your mother's place or something, until you know they are okay.

well so we think those two birds are bs males then?...I feel bad for them as well because I no they probably arnt getting the care that they could....I have been building coops like crazy....here are the next three im building and we just got 6 inches of snow after the picture was taken so not to much work got done....also I do have another greenhouse I could house them in.....im just worried now....I don't want to deal with someone elses problems you know....

ib male ( day before I cleaned the coop...which is inside my greenhouse for now till the pens get built after winter...out front... the white in the background with the blue tie I believe is a male he has a longer neck and tail then most and today I seen him fan out...that was the first time seeing the white ones do anything like that....

I will be worming soon my entire flock when all the pheasants are separated into all their pairs.....so this would be the time..huh

when the birds feathers are ruffled is it the whole birds feathers that would be ruffled or just a certain part of the bird...like say the back of the birds that would be ruffled

My two peahens have ruffled shoulder feathers but they like to sleep outside and the feathers get frosted since it's so cold outside.

Just wondering what the dimensions are of those runs are and how many peas are you planning to put in them?
