Show off your Peas!

Mine nest within 300 to 400 feet of my barn, i bet she will lay on your property as long as dogs don't bother her. they like to lay next to something I find mine by fallen trees most of the time.
Mine have never under anything except a branch or hanging brush like cane, they also like to lay up high sending eggs rolling off a roof sometimes . i set up nesting areas up high and they all were used the last 2 years.

The thing about the egg eaters is, oddly, they're inconsistent--it can go for a while & they leave them alone, then one day we see egg shells in the yard or possibly even catch them in the act. I don't have the ceramic but have wood I could try, but may look into ceramic as well.

I have to check eggs under my boyfriend's game hens, & some of them can be pretty vicious--he has a few I call pit bull hens because they don't peck--they actually bite, hold & shake. Even had a couple flat fly at me, so I'm always on guard when doing that anyway. Finding a nest hopefully won't be too hard, as long as they stay within the perimeter fence, which they're doing so far (knock on wood). There's lots of hiding places like junk trucks & trailers that don't move often, & some deadfall, which is all good cover for them but means inaccessible for me. I'll just have to see how it goes, learning along the way.

Thanks guys!! Side note: in the middle of this post I had to go help Joe with some tractor work. When we were done he told me I had a passenger & had for a while--Patch was on the roll bar above me

Not to be picky, but maybe you should explain to Joe before you have management problems. Patch isn't the passenger, he's the supervisor, over HIS tractor.

Oh, if you only knew lol. Joe figured out early on that Patch doesn't particularly like to be touched. So they have a "dance"...sometimes Joe tries to touch Patch who steps away or leaves altogether, normally immediately. When I left the tractor & Joe got on, he told Patch he wasn't riding with him & to go on. Patch didn't. So after telling him for the 2nd time, Joe reached out & touched Patch on the chest..Patch tolerated it for a few seconds before finally exiting. I told Joe Patch liked riding enough to tolerate being touched for a brief time. I'll pass your information on, even though I think that will be a strong difference in opinion. Thanks.

How many females canbe put in a harem? I've once heard there can be 12 but I don't see that being possible I'm thinking around 5 max?

Unlike a rooster that runs around grabbing a chicken hens all threw the day a peacock must Wait for the female to give him a sign, now that does not happen all threw the day but mabe a couple hens in a day will give it up to the peacock, if you IA a hen just one time they can be fertile for weeks so if a peacock services only one hen a day how may hens could he fertilize in the same amount of weeks the AI hen stayed fertile? I have not noticed that peacocks take a day off from breeding so i IMO they can fertilize as many hens as he can get to squat, now if he does not like the hen or the hen does not like him they are both going to appear infertile leading folks to believe that they can only service so many just saying

A peacock can fertilize as many hens as he likes as long as he likes them and they like him
