Mine nest within 300 to 400 feet of my barn, i bet she will lay on your property as long as dogs don't bother her. they like to lay next to something I find mine by fallen trees most of the time.
Mine have never under anything except a branch or hanging brush like cane, they also like to lay up high sending eggs rolling off a roof sometimes . i set up nesting areas up high and they all were used the last 2 years.
