I have a Canadian that showed up limping a few weeks ago and won't leave. It's fine now but hangs out with my free ranging ducks. I don't pen or anything. I want it to be free to leave if it chooses but hope it stays a while.

I've got 4. They free range and the gander is nasty. They killed a possum last summer and if your neighbors complain about peas being loud, they obviously haven't experienced living next to geese.

I thought I wanted geese, til I had some--would've been fine if they had stayed out at the pond, away from the house, but no, they had to come visit & make their presence known. Used to have a Snowy Mallard duck named Phyllis--some of you "older-timers" may remember Phyllis Filler & her laugh--hence the name of the duck.
