18angovem,Blue Creek Farm & Zazouse already explained it, but I wanted to add that when breeders are wanting a very high % spalding they take that 50% spalding and breed it to a pure green peafowl. Anyone interested in breeding their own high % spaldings must have green peafowl to do so.But couldn't it be possible if you were to breed the brother and sister of a 50% Spalding and possibly get a pure Green theoretically? Also I found a person in Idaho that has Green peafowl. I will have to show you some of the photos. I think they are Greens last time I looked at the photos.
As Zaz said somewhere down the line the 'mutt' genes will show up and there will be a very mad/confused buyer because they were sold pure greens and the birds looked pure but the offspring were obvious spaldings. This is what is also frustrating about Spalding breeding. You can have a nice 75% spalding like what Dany12 posted and an equally nice Spalding hen, but that doesn't mean the offspring will be as nice looking as the parents.
