Show off your Peas!

You are talking about totally different things here, your statement makes no sense to me you keep the wormer away from children so they don't drink it, however Fenbendazole has been used to treat worms in humans i believe
Structurally, CORID mimics thiamine (Vitamin B1) which is required by coccidia for normal growth and reproduction. When coccidia ingest CORID, they experience thiamine deficiency and starve from malnutrition. CORID has been experimentally administered at many times the recommended dosage and duration with no signs of toxicity

My point is that just because a label says 'Keep away from children' does not make it a bad thing, it just needs to be used with proper safeguards. The same as with Tek-trol, it is very safe and beneficial when handled properly.

morning...the warm water is supposed to be between 78-110...also you have to use water that is below 400 ppm (part per million)...most wells are around 400ppm...you could use distilled water or reverse osmosis water...ppm is dissolved salts in your water...the only reason i know all the water stuff is because i have ppm pens to test water for my hydroponics....i have done hydroponics for over ten years....best way to grow anything and the fastest...the only reason i got into the tek trol is because i was told by a big pheasant breeder that has expensive birds that she has had great success with it...she says she gently wipes off any debris with warm water and then mists the eggs with a spray bottle....

i think something is going on in one of my pens of peas....so they are shaking their heads and scratching at their faces...could this be a bad thing or do you guys think its just the hay getting to them now that it is getting warm out...?no other pens are doing this...even the ones in the other greenhouse with the same bedding

I do not think the shaking and scratching is normal or related to hay and warm weather. I would check them good for mites to be safe.

The head shaking is most likely those pesky little nats, it is going on all over the place right now, many folks are complain about them on another birds sight i post in.

when checking for mites...where is the best place to check the bird...never had an issue with mites but would like to learn about them as the smallest thing makes me so nervous....just wanna be safe and keep my birdies in good health...getting the materials together to build their pens so they can be moved...ground is still frozen here...about 12 inches down its still frozen....but its on its way...cant wait...thanks for the advice...im going out there and im going to observe them for a period of time to see whats up....their getting new bedding and im putting down seven dust....

There are lots of different types of mites and most recommend checking the vent and under wing areas. I tend to see them on feathers that are shed, usually on the fluffy downey ones. And if they seem to be bothered around the head I would check there good. My turkey was the only bird I ever saw with mites on her head, probably because her head is mostly bald and they were easier to spot.

Didn't you just treat all your birds for mites as a preventive measure?
What kind of bedding are you using?
If the ground is still frozen and the temps are freezing i guess you can rule out nats, sorry i did not read you post entirely darn ADHD will do that to ya

Would mites make the eye swollen and watery? I have a hen that has been like that for months, wiping her eye on her shoulder. I thought maybe dust or allergies but now you mention mites.... I will have to check her for that. Most of my pens have a large dusting bowl in them with wood ash, sand and peat moss for dusting, got that good idea from Zaz.

just got done redoing the bedding with straw..put down seven dust...and they dont look like they are doing it as much......but what i forgot to put in the problem part...is that they are opening and closing their mouths really fast when they shake their heads and scratch at their face....could this be capillary worms...? i did put down seven dust earlier....man i cant wait for them to get on sand in the new coops...seems like with all the birds there is less problems with everything since i added sand....they have at the feed store liquid stuff for mights that i could get and put in a sprayer and spray them in the morning...i think i will get some and do this....

kskingbee i had a baby chicken that got feed in its eye and i noticed it was swollen so i took it out and put it under slow running water a week later she is doing better...never had that happen before....also my peas have no swelling of the face or discharge or anything like that...still learning tho...

thanks for the advice...and still no pea eggs...got 30 pheasant eggs
