She laid this perfect little one, then three without shells, then two good ones again. She's laid every day so far! I'm impressed.

Ok so I have a question. My 5 girls are 14 weeks and earlier in the week they ran out of their starter and grower medicated. It's the purina stuff in the red bag. So I went ahead and bought another 50 lbs bag. Is this the right desicision? I hear that the medication goes into their eggs??? Help!

if you can swap it for non medicated i would suggest this as most people do not feed this at there age and if you google up online it will give you a suggestion as what to feed , I stopped feeding it to them last week when they turned I weeks, the guy at the feed store told me non medicated chick grower until 21 weeks then put the hen on egg layer.

ih BTW i forgot to add IT WILL GO INTO THE EGGS#!#!!!

Most medicated starter feeds contain the medication amprollium. Amprollium does not *treat* coccidiosis, but it helps the babies develop their own immunity. It will only get into the eggs if fed to adults who are laying. It does not get into the eggs when fed to chicks. I feed my chicks the medicated chick starter for their first few weeks when they are most susceptible to cocci then I switch them over to grower pellets. If grower is not available then my next choice would be game bird feed which is higher in protein while they are growing. I have used game bird when I couldn't get the grower feed.
