My roo does that when he’s eating too, he’s a baby and a little skittish, but probably because he’s new to my flockView attachment 2961181Here’s Maude, my sweet EE rooster. He’s almost 2 and is the cock of the walk. The only roo out of my OG flock that didn’t turn out to be an asshole. Vigilant, easy on the hens, love to show them places to lay, goes nuts when he finds food for them, & always give his treats to them instead of eating them himself ( even if they were FOR him because the pigs already got theirs ), the only complaint is he’s a little high strung? He’s laid back in general, but he does tend to raise the alarm a lot ( at any bird he sees ) or gets startled by any noise he hears ( makes the fast buckbuckbuckbuck noises ) even if he’s in the middle of eating, so he ends up choking himself some.
What makes him a bad australorp? There’s no obvious flaws I can see for a hatchery bird (assuming he’s not from a breeder). And Yellow, the first cull -- who is a not a good Australorp at all, but who has the prettiest tail ever seen on a cockerel of his age.
