I attended my first show last October- 1 bird, but went again this January. Not many shows in FL that aren’t 5 days or longer, and personally, I have no desire to leave my birds at a show for longer than 2 nights. Hoping to show again in October and November though, and maybe actually get NPIP this year so I’m not limited to 2 shows a year.

Wow, I love Beltsvilles! They have 5 day shows there? I wish they had those here!

It’s mostly fairs, for a lot of which it’s required for the birds to be there every day the show operates- often longer than 5 days, between 5-7 for most from what I recall, and early removal for a few resulted in immediate disqualification from any rewards.

All of the shows I’ve considered attending/have attended have also been over a 1.5 hr drive from my house, so doing anything longer than 2-3 days isn’t manageable for me, between the regular care the birds would need, general anxiety about leaving them there so long, the long drive it’d require, and fact i’d have college to worry about too.

I agree that if it was something big like Ohio, it’d be something I’d be more willing to commit to, but those shows aren’t nearly as big as Ohio.

Does anyone know of a place where we could show both our rabbits and our chickens,also do you need to get your poultry tatooed before showing them like other animals? sorry about all the questions

A fair show would probably be your best bet for competing rabbits & poultry at the same time. Chickens use wing bands, leg bands, or toe punches for identification.

Oh yeah, I guess I don’t count fairs. Yes, they are a commitment, but I also prepare all year for the fair since I’m in 4-H but since it was my last year I probably won’t show at the fair again.
But fairs aren’t nearly as competitive as APA sanctioned club shows.
Here in WI we have 4 club shows a year so we are truly spoiled. Additionally, the state fair is sanctioned and only two days.
Plus, I can show out of state as well!
