. I am home bound as long as I have my dad living with us.
I am limited to working with shipped eggs for the time being.

Whoever has or is getting chicks please remember to take photos!!!

I will be taking more photos this weekend. The SS are in their first set of full feathers (looking more like chickens) and my other chicks that are about a week behind are super ugly right now. You will see in the photos.

I have three chicks that I hatched from Walt's SS eggs. I will start taking photos this weekend and will try to take them every two weeks after that.
I wish I knew someone on the egg train that wouldn't mind picking up those started chicks for me!

won't he ship the chicks?

I think he would prefer not to. These are started chicks, not day olds. I don't think he has shipped started chicks before. He offered to send some to me, but we both agree that the heat is just too much in Florida for him to ship them to me right now.

I had some started SS chicks come from Texas last year from someone who was accustomed to shipping started chicks. Those chicks were mighty thirsty and hungry when they arrived. They were shipped in the cooler Spring weather. I don't think those chicks would of made it if they had been shipped in the weather we are having now.

Math Ace, are there people in your state that are going one way or the other part way or something? You have been working on this longer than some of us and NEED to have SS SQ Chicks!

I posted on the egg / chicken train thread for any one traveling from Kentucky to Florida during the month of May. No takers yet. . . . Who Knows... Maybe the three I hatched will turn out to be SUPER STARS...

HI all! Would you please look at these pics of my 6 month old SS roo and tell me if his tail is going to "improve." I love that he has no white but am getting concerned about the quality of it. On one side there are no tail feathers, not sure what happened with that. Will he ever have beautiful rooster feathers? Thanks!!

has he always been that way??? i had a hen that got her tail pecked really bad when she was little and only grew half a tail like this...

No, but he's looked like this for a month or so. If he were going to grow more tail feathers would I be able to see the pin feathers now? Would he pass this "gene" on to his offspring, because I'm keeping him as a breeder. I have another SS with a very nice rooster tail but too much white. Someone's coming tomorrow to give him a new home.

ya if he was molting they normally regrow right away... look real close and see if he was injured that can delay feather growth... until u know y he is not growing feathers is hard to say if its genetic or not...
