show quality speckled sussex ??

OK Speckled Sussex Folks... I think the corrections have been made and we can move on.

Don, Could you take a look at Clucksworth's photos and give some feedback. Am I on base with my critique or did I go astray? Did I miss anything?

Cluckworth's HOW MUCH DOES YOUR BIRD WEIGH ? ?
She weighs 3.23kg

Lisa, I really like the last picture in this post. Overall I egree with everything you have stated. We have to keep in mind that she is only 8 months. I like her pose in the last picture, I would be proud to own this female. What I really like most is the wide open tail feathers, do not see that around here very often. Also I think the back is ok and the black bar seems a little excessive but is ok. I like her head and the way the neck arches connecting.

I expect you know by now that I like this pullet a lot. I like the way she carrys herself and the nice wide Back this is a good example of how to get the broad chest and open tail feathers.

HOLY POOP.... I KNEW this girl looked stout!

Double Holy Poop, 8 MONTHS old and 7.12 lbs (3.23 kg = 7.12093 lbs).

HOLY POOP...Show this Girl and ship me some of her eggs.
She is honestly the most heavy pullet I have ever reared. She eats absolutely everything. I have recently taken their feeder away and started only giving her and her friends a few cups of food as before she would sit in front of the feeder all day eating constantly. She is worse than my orpingtons, haha

I don't really feed her anything special. In the morning they have Layer's mash ( I buy from the local feed store, before the mash they had Layer's pellets in a feeder), mixed with Growers pellets. In the afternoon they have soaked steam rolled barley with a corn and maise mix :)

To be honest, I haven't ever really weighed a chicken before. I was surprised she was as heavy as she was, however she is roughly the same weights as the other pullets growing up. Shes just a little bit heavier. The other pullets range between 2.92kg and 3.17kg

Haha, I'm sorry I don't have a decent male breeding bird at the moment :(

I sold the father bird of my pullets a while ago as he was becoming a bit nasty ( and I don't have any photos), and the brother of my pullet looks a bit of a mess as he keeps squabbling with the cockerel on the other side of his pen :L

I love that pullets depth, her breadth and how low set on nice wide spaced legs. And without picking her apart I just like the overall impression she makes, good type. Her feather pattern looks nice too, well balanced. Shes a keeper.

Andy
