show quality speckled sussex ??

Still alive acting a little perkier.  Separated out from the other as he did make it through the night. Wanted to make sure he wanted to eat and drink.  Takes in a lot of water with electrolites when I go over and talk to him.  Hope he keeps improving.

Good luck with him. Is he eating? If not, you could try scrambled eggs or Yogurt.

So my cockerel issue continues. From my hatch from 2 different individuals with Mr. Overton's line, I hatched all pullets. I contacted Mr. Reichert and he doesn't have any more cockerels. His last one he sold to somebody I sent to him. Mr. Reichert told me to try Mr. Overton. I talked with him tonight and he has some, but doesn't ship since the post office closed the location he shipped from. He said if I found somebody going to Lucasville or one of the shows he is going to, that would transport for me, he would have one for me. He said try Mr. Reiber or Mr.Albritton since those two started with his stock. He said birds from either of their lines would be fine to use on my pullets.

That is so excellent to know! Who's birds came from who!!! I hope to order another 12-15 chicks from Tony Albritton next spring. I should get my order in late October. He might be at one of the shows I attend this fall. Anyway that bodes well for possibly trading eggs at some point if you get a roo and I keep mine alive. 57 Was looking way perkier tonight when I checked him again at 9 PM. He was sitting up and had eaten and drank about 1/2 of each yogurt cup. He was talking more too! Please pardon the eye roll for hatching all pullets!

Last fall I hatched 5 BCM cockerels from shipped eggs. Gave me a few males to pic from, I finally figured out that my incubator temps were running a tad low.

What about the fellow in Canada? He usually comes down for the big show in the fall--sorry I can't remember his name. We were throwing out names on the Heritage Large Fowl thread.

I'll have to take some new photos that are more suited for evaluating, 4 of them are only 5 weeks old. 1 is 10 weeks, and one is around 6 months..she hasn't started laying yet. Three different lines. I only have one roo in the bunch. He is a part of the 5 week old group. I haven't been taking pictures of the ones I planned on keeping. I'll take some today.

This is just awful... My hatch from Walt Reichert was almost ALL males... I hatched 5 males and 2 females!

You are kinda far away from me in Florida.....

LOL...I did the nail painting mostly to mess with my guy. He is pretty sure I'm looney. I promise you, I do not normally paint the chickens nails.
I am considering Halloween costumes though. My daughter was here visiting with me the last two weeks and she crochets. I asked her to make me some chick hats and she did. We had fun doing chicken photo shoots.

She thinks her head is too heavy to lift.




Again..appears to be too heavy.


This was her way of saying she was done with dress up.
Yes..she did poop on my daughter...twice.
