I live in Peoria, a small town within the county of Maricopa, Arizona. It's a strange yet beautiful blend of rural communities, wide, open land that is abundant with desert wildlife, and mountains at every turn...

...with some more developed, urban areas as well.

All in all, it's a pretty great place!

I decided to go walking today, and I got some better pictures of my forest.

The woods:

This was once a trash pile:

Now just some random pictures of the fields. There are more fields than this, but this is the portion of the 80 acres that I am willing to walk on:

Edge of the forest:

I took this picture at the edge of a fence, it shows a little more of the forest. But believe me, there is much much more, I've walked on all of it.

It was a tiring experience. Had to collect lots of firewood

Those are epic photos. Looks like the place I went on camp. We were out in the middle of nowhere on a river bank with lots of toppled trees

It was a tiring experience. Had to collect lots of firewood

I know right! Its a very awesome place, mainly cause it is super beautiful all year round. The best part is that you can never get lost in the woods there, because practically every way you turn you can find a way out!

My great aunt actually owns all 80 acres, but my family and I live on a portion of it so we can go exploring any time we want.​

I get so lost without any landmarks. I can usually get bearings from the sun, but bearings aren't much use if you don't know where's where.

That's where I find buildings come in handy. I'm yet to become that skilled at telling the difference between trees

See, my town got hit by a major ice storm several years ago. It was so bad, my house lost power for two weeks. My parents had to buy a generator, which was hard to come by, as plenty of other people needed one as well.

The ice and snow was so heavy, that branches broke off of all of our trees and we were afraid that they'd never grow back. My siblings and I were never allowed to go by any of the trees in our yard becaue of the breaking branches.

And that is why all of the trees in my aunts woods look dead or dieing.

Whew! Sounds like an adventure

Are you in the northern States? There's been news about the snowstorms up there.

We have power cuts all the time. Usually though they're because someone's overloaded the grid.
