Awesome tats and stories!

I say always wait to get a tattoo until after you're done having children and you are secure with who you are in life - that way there will never be any regrets down the road.

Too many young girls get tats on a whim - then on their wedding day they try to cover them up in that nice strapless gown - or have to pay to get them removed or redone (pregnancy will kill a tattoo - no doubt about it)

So for all you young-un's out there - THINK FIRST before you get a tattoo - think placement - think stretchmarks from pregnancy (yes, you will get them - dont care who you are) and think "What will this look like when I'm 50/60?" That cute little butterfly on your breast may become Mothra and that little lizard may become Godzilla!

Its not a decision to take lightly by any means. And whatever you do - dont get your "boyfriend/girlfriend" of the moment tattoo'd onto your body -

dumb dumb dumb. Hubby always said the only names he'd ever get on his body in a tattoo were his kids - they are forever - but wives come and go! LMAO!! (yeah..and he'd be dead too if he even thought about divorcing me!

That's why I waited until I was in my forties to get one. I figured there would be a lot less "distortion" that way. I'll try to get a picture later to post.

Love the Tats guys! The chickadee is near and dear to my heart too(and there songs have already begun changing! Yippie)

I have a dragon fly that I had designed on my right chest, its not as elegant as others that I have seen, yet mine is strange and very meaningful to me. When you see the 2 round things above the heart, that is the year I had the tat, in 2000.

Note the heart , the red did not heal correctly- I was very heart broke at that point, nephew went to basic training, broke up with a guy, my friend that went with me for a tat lost a baby.
The color of the wings, white, are for the white light of God and the figure 8 style of the wings are for infinity.
Color green is for growth (which I certainly did that fall) and goodness. 10 circles of the body is for the group of us that have gone separate ways, yet stay close to our minds, hearts even tho we don't speak, we will always be there. (and after 30 years, we have proved it time and time again when that phone rings, there is always an answer).

OK here is mine it is on my right foot (don't let anyone tell you that don't hurt) My best friend from highschool's husband is an artist I talked to him 5 mins. and he captured everything I wanted. The meaning and reasons are very personal sorry. My DD has wanted me to get one for ages and I have wanted one since forever, but went and did this on my own for me. Yes waiting till in 40's is a great idea and I hope at 60 70 80 my foot isn't saggy or wrinkly.
Amasing part was lots of artist said no it was too tiny and detailed found an artist in IND. that did perment maleup and she had no prob. but it took a while and hurt like well you know what she did all in single needle. I love it and as a wife to a professional I can hide it if need be but it looks awsome with killer shoes

Well I don't have a pic of my one lone old faded tat. Nothing left of it but the black outline of a small heart. Plus it's on my tata's which were more or less removed in Nov because of Breast Cancer. Didn't figure ya'll wanted a picture of all of that.

HOWEVER.......I'm in the process of having reconstruction and will have new and perky ones in a few months. Then I will have my old faded tat redone as the center of the pink ribbon I plan on having done when the doc clears me medically.

This old faded tat was done at the Cumberland County Fair in Millville, NJ back in 1977. I was 15 and it was a drunken dare. I kept this thing hidden from my folks for 3 years!!!! That was until I was involved in a serious car accident when I injured my neck terribly. One day in the docs office as he was adjusting my awful neck brace, he noticed the tat. "Is that a real tatoo?" "Yeah, but my mom know nothing about it" "I didn't seen anything!" Across the room you hear this voice, "A WHAT!!!!!"

Let's say the day went downhill from there!!!

Oh Gee ! I wish ...Perky !!! ....I am so happy for you ...that your recovering from Breast Cancer and good for you in getting....Perky !!! and a refreshed tat....Pink and all !!!

Best of luck and prayers for a full recovery, CoyoteMagic. I've been thru cancer as well, but obviously not your type. Looking forward to hearing about your new & improved tatt when you've been given the all-clear.

It will happen.

It covers my entire outside of my right calf. This is homage to two things. The best Irish punk band The Dropkick Murphys, and to my Irish heritage.
On my other calf I have a tattoo of cotton thistle, Scotland's national flower, which of course pays homage to my Scottish heritage as well.
