Showgirl thread- for posting pictures and discussing breed!

Oh my, all these pics make me miss my little guy Lazer, who passed due to the heat. I will try again when it cools off, they are so darned cute and comical.

does anyone have 1-2 showgirl pullets for sale? My friend has been seeking them a long time. The present day BYC auction site just doesn't 'cut it' like it used to. She is in a suburb of Chicago.

I have some nice white showgirl pullets. Breed and show. But will not ship. PM me if you are interested.

My friend would need them shipped. The only transportation she has is the senior bus. She has had others shipped over the years from Minnesota, NY, Michigan, and Ohio.

So sorry about Lazer.

It's been quit on here lately! And here at my place every Hen has set and hatched chicks this year so I should have allot to choose from. Adding some to the breed flock and some going to the show, well still others my be available to sell at the fall Fowl Fest. Can't wait to see how they will look in a few mouths. Hope you all have had as good year as I have, and look forward to seeing some of you at the show in October.

Aww we had to rehome our flour for he turned to be a roo, and we lost our cookie... So sad... And the showgirl eggs ihad in the incubator were no good....another bummer... So we ar showgirl less.... :/

Note: My recent hatch was from a white silkie and a clean necked rooster. Hatched 13 chicks, and hatched three from just showgirl hen and roo. Here is what I found.

All the chicks from the silkie have a slat skin color and my showgirl chicks were almost black.

This is the first time in many years that i have added full silkies to my flock.
I have seen light skinned SG chicks and have a friend that even bought some at a show this spring and now that they are starting to maturer their skin has turned a bright red on the neck and face. I sure hope that this will not be my experience, But if it is it will explain all the pale skin out their, and show that we as breeders need to spend more time improving our SG's than adding Silkie blood to them....breed a few generations out to get rid of the slat color in newly hatched chicks.

This is just me talk-en, but I do now how disappointed my friend was when the red started showing up..

I will post pictures soon just have a very busy day ahead..

Please share your experiences.

my ideal Showgirl is a Silkie with naked neck
i do not worky about lil red on the neck it only happen on rooster here and is part come from the naked necks that where breed in, i breed for the all around bird not just one part so may be my babies have lil lighter skin but have great crests there work in progress
