I hatched a single egg 3 days ago and had to find the smallest chick to pair up with it as it cried non-stop.............I mean, I had to carry it around inside my t-shirt and pockets to stop it temporarily. Ww watched TV with it ahd had my sons carrying it around.
Silence after about an hour with a buddy.
The mirror trick didn't work, not a ticking clock & stuffed animal. Phew, we couldn't get away from the sound.

We have 3 pips, and they're chirping. They're not fast enough for the first one, she keeps stumbling around crying. Poor baby. She's dry except for her head. When should we take her out? I don't want to put her in the brooder by herself

Dont worry about her. They can go about three days without food or water. You can keep her right in there. That way you dont have to open the bator. Opening it can suck the humidity out and shrink the membrane around the chick. (they can suffocate then) The peeps will encourage the others to hatch. She can be the cheerleader for the rest!! hehehe
I am so excited for you and your mom!!! I love the partridge!!! I got two in my batch!!

The second one just hatched, she's huge! (we call them all "she") She's a big, beautiful partridge silkie

Princess, that's what Mom named #1, is tiny in comparison. Three or more pips, one is really working on getting out. This is so cool
