Congratulations, Shelley! I have been away from the 'puter so I missed hatch results. Glad to see you have a few fuzzies to play with.

I had a terrible scare with mine... I have them in a little cage inside of a bigger brooder cage. The older chick (Big Bird) is in the bigger cage, but can't get in their little protected space. They can hop through the little cage fence and get in with Big Bird if they want to...

So the other day, I had stepped out of the room to wash the waterers and left the door to the room open. About that time Big Bird decides to fly up on top of the little guy's cage for the first time. They got spooked, and jumped out of their little cage, and then they jumped right out of the big cage, too! It's a dog crate, and I didn't know they could fit through the bars!!

Anyway, I heard a rumpus because my little dog was going *crazy* barking and yodeling. I got downstairs, and didn't see the little chicks. My heart SANK. My bigger dog was standing by the doorway licking the floor. I looked and found one chick, and I was SURE the dog ate the other one.

The other one FINALLY turned up after a search of the area! She was hiding and not making a peep.

Thank GOODNESS they were OK!!!!!

Talk about hearts skipping a beat!!! WOW! I am so glad every one was okay!! You must have been scared stiff. I know I would have been. My dog likes the chicks and I am thankful. They scare him though!! He likes to smell them but when they move he backs away.

My dog acts like she is a mother with my chicks, she like to clean them, she watches when i take them out, it too cute.

That must have made your heart skip a beat or 2! Geez.............glad there was a happy ending.
My 2 little dogs are fascinated with the chickens and I think they really watch over them outside. when a cat comes into my yard, all 7 pounds of little Dory jumps right into action. Too cute! Darn cat is bigger than she is, but don't tell her that!
