They are soooooo sweet!!! You use pee pads?? I thought about that but it seemed expensive to change daily. If i could find them cheaper somewhere that would be great but our pet store seems expensive.
Either way they are beautiful.

My tiny little brooder takes a half pee pad... Usually I put paper towels over it and for a couple chicks it will last a couple of days. Gives them good traction.

I see. I have a large brooder. Its actually a plastic tote. But I have 9 chicks and no where else to put them til the warm weather. I would need at least one or two whole ones. It would be expensive for me. With the amount of chicks I have I need to clean it everyday. I have 2 larger barnyard specails and they poop like any 10 birds! hehehe The 7 new little ones are not bad yet but give them time.

Magsrads, did you already order some??? wooohoo, another hatch!!

Yes I did and can't wait for them to get here. I'd swapped my showgirls for a rooster who can't crow.

Now I MISS those little cuties a LOT.....and had to get more.

I need to build a bigger brooder for the chick order coming in March (25 chicks). Would like to make a small trap door in the bottom so it's easy to scrape out daily. I used a 6' x 2' horse water tank last year and it worked pretty well except it was hard to get it really clean every day, especially in the corners.

It would be cool to build it so you could put in dividers easily. That would be really handy right now for staggered hatches.
