Showing Pigeons, What do I need?

So what do I need to show pigeons? In addition to chickens? I know they need a band, what kind? We used to band our homers and fancies but the ones I got don't have any bands.

i think they need to be close banded to show, you might want to get some npa bands and start showing their babies

I think I literally got my bands 3-4 days after sending my Money Order! Talk about fast.

yes seamless bands, NPA for their shows , best to have young birds hatch early part of the year, so young birds will get their adult feather before the fall show. You will need to band them around 10 days old. Depend on breed ,some have club bands.

Okay thanks! Why do they even need the bands? I remember my parent's doing them when I was little, but I don't remember why. I was talking to my state tester when he came out and he said to show the pigeons all I would have to have him do is put on a metal band?

one reason is it tell how old the bird is, it also tells who raised the birds also, each band will have a number and can be trace to the breeder.
