I'm back with another question. This pullet or roo is about 8 weeks old and is supposed to be a Lavender orp. Is that the shredded feather gene causing this feathering and always molting look?

Some say it is a gene associated with Lavenders which causes the feathers to look shredded . I bought this one from a lady on Craigslist. It does not have mites or anything to make it lose feathers.I've never heard of a shredder gene.
Where did you buy your birds?
I am no expert, but it looks like the shredder gene is a known issue with lavenders. Here is a discussion on this: https://poultrykeeper.com/poultry-breeding/the-lavender-gene/
I wouldn't buy from her again. Some say it is a gene associated with Lavenders which causes the feathers to look shredded . I bought this one from a lady on Craigslist. It does not have mites or anything to make it lose feathers.
