Ok so upon closer inspection, I have noticed some gunk on his navel. He is curled around an egg so it’s hard to see, and my dad usually takes care of the dead chicks. Ah this is difficult. I think bacteria may have entered into its navel area.
@Mother of Chicks -> DONT WORRY! This will definitely not happen to you:hugs
Ah I'm sorry - that's so hard. I hope you're OK? :hugs

Birth is a beautiful but risky time for any animal - you did everything you could to help those babies and you still have some lovely little fluffy bums to look after. How's our shrink wrapper doing?

Thank you! It means a lot. Shrink wrapper is still in fetal position, slowly drying. Not sure why exactly:barnie

Chick is still in fetal position. Eyes have opened and he is drying now but it seems his legs are too weak. Should I go in there? Two other eggs are pipped now

I really don't know. I would be tempted to break a little bit more shell away (if you're sure there's no yolk left) to see if it helps him up and about - then straight back into inc for hours and maybe repeat? But like I said - I am not very experienced. Any cheeping at all?

I haven’t opened the incubator again. But I desperately need too, because I think there may be a rotten egg in there! There’s 100% no yolk left, the shell is gone, but his leg is too weak to sit up on so he is just lying there.
And it’s ok! Thank you so much for replying in the first place. It has really helped me to calm down. There is some cheeping, but he seems more tired than anything.
Now I just have the predicament of the rotten egg that may explode:(

I would take the rotten egg out, that could be dangerous! If you’re worried about humidity then after lifting the lid put a wet cloth in with them so after it goes down, it goes straight back up. I’ve done that before and it didn’t harm my pipped baby. Hope your shrink wrapped baby is ok! Keep us updated.

I would get ready to add some moisture (sterile damp rag?)- open the inc - remove the bad egg. Not sure if the shrink wrapper could finish in the brooder to minimise time with the inc open - especially if he's nearly dry? He might just need time to rest...

I'm sort of invested in this story now. Happy to support you :)

And congratulations on the rest of your hatch!🥳😊
but the issue is that I have no idea which egg is rotten:/
I really appreciate the suggestion, and I’m actually going to go check on them now and slowly take out the unpipped eggs to find out who the offender is. But firstly I’m going to take out all my chicks, I really don’t want them to be hurt.
Thank you!! I actually have many eggs left, likely more that 10, that have not pipped yet. Today is day 23. Some were slower in development, and I marked them, and I’m assuming that some were malpositioned.
Ok, wish me luck. Here I go
