I need help determining if I've got a problem with one of my chicks or if I am worrying for nothing. The girls are nearly 4 weeks old and all have been well until today. When I went out to check on them this morning one of them (the biggest and most feathered) was sitting directly under the light all puffed up like she was deathly cold, even though the temp showed 90 degrees where she was and there is not a draft. Awhile later I gave the girls a treat of hard boiled egg. The other 5 stampeded to the dish but this one just stood back watching the others gobble down the egg. She did go over and pick at the crumbs that were left after the others had finished. She's usually quite active and is the bossy one so this is not like her. I kept checking on her throughout the day and usually found her lying down. Any ideas? I'm at a loss about why she seems out of sorts.
