Hello I have a sick chicken I believe she’s been in her coop for the last three days she has not moved she stayed there in a little bowl she’s not eating or drinking water I think she’s going to die does anybody know what she might have

We’ll need more information than this to help. Do you have a photo of her? What does her poop look like? How is she moving? Have you checked for parasites like lice or worms? How old is she? Have you introduced any birds recently? How does her abdomen look?

Pictures? You weren’t very informative and going by what you did say, it could be anything. I want to be encouraging though, so maybe if you can give us more detail we can help. Is she pooping? If she refuses to drink water you’re going to have to force her, she’ll die of dehydration before she’s given a chance to even start recovery. Put it up to her beak, in a very shallow dish. Touch her beak to the water and chances are she will probably swallow. If she still won’t drink let us know, I can help you learn how to inject it into her crop with a syringe down her throat. (DO NOT TRY THIS WITHOUT FIRST LETTING US TELL YOU HOW! I hopefully don’t sound harsh but that is very important that you do NOT try to use a syringe without asking one of us, like me, who know how to do it and can teach you.)

This goes for food to, if she won’t eat when you put it up to her beak, then think about this: Chickens are prone to pecking things that are red. If you disolve tums mixed with some cottage cheese than she might want to peck it due to its reddish/pink color. that may seem quite random but it’s worth a shot. She won’t want to eat anything like pellets, so if your food isn’t a crumble, try smashing it, or putting it through a food processor. My EYP hen Joy refused to eat any food that wasn’t crushed. I figured that out when I noticed her eating the crumbs and picking through the pellets, so I brought it to the kitchen, created a crumble, and she started to eat again after a day! Of course she was on a pain killer and was standing again, but if you offer the crushed food to your hen at her beak, or nest her head, she might try and eat it.

How old is your chicken? Has she been near food or water, and has she been taking those? Has she been laying eggs? If not get her drinking water right away. If you can bring her inside into a dog crate or basket, where you can care for her and observe her cloely, that would be best. Offer water with electrolytes or 1 teaspoonful of sugar per liter. Hold it up to her beak in a small cup or scoop. Offer some bits of scrambled egg for her to eat. Tell us what her droppings look like. If you know where to find her crop, tell us if it feels empty or full, hard or puffy.

Okay got pictures I think it’s her foot. I just took them but their is more. She been sleeping under the chicken rack. So I don’t know if it’s poop or a fungus. When I put her back in the coop I made her drink water. Then she started eating. So good sign. I did check her belly and found no parasite or fleas. But her bum is very dirty. I saw a green spot on her foot. I have never seen that. She was very general with me and seemed happy to be held. Now why is that stuff around her ears and head? And what is going on with her foot she does not want to put it down? When I was taking her pics she make little bit of noise she seemed to like it. Like A prima donna. 😂

Poor thing. Is her left foot curled under now? She has pecking injuries on both sides of her head and comb. Her right foot has a green bruise, swelling, and missing scales from an injury or pecking. How is she walking? Is she limping, and is one leg weaker? Does she hold a foot up? I would bring her inside to a dog crate and try to clean up her vent area. Look for any pecking damage there. Offer her food and water often.

It could be that she was showing signs of illness or perhaps limping, and the flock attacked her. Or she might have been attacked by a predator. It would be food to know if she is limping on a leg. She has lost her tail feathers, so she could be molting.

I will clean her up but I don’t think my other birds attack her. I will keep my eye out for that
