Sick chicks- UPDATE

They are back in their normal brooder. They have one heat lamp. I’m using room temperature water. 1 week. Their poo gets stuck sometimes on them so I wipe it off but other than that it’s normal. They have been eating normally
That's good news! I would still caution you to raise up the heat lamp if you're getting pasty butt, that is from to much heat. I can tell you that I brood on the "colder," side and I've never had even 1 pasty butt in 20 years with about 100chicks....

Do you have pics of the regular set up so we can help to see what might be going on
If they are a week old they need less heat then week 1
They also need much more room as there is a lot of little ones and overcrowded seems to cause issues
Adding in some vitamins to water just to get them up and going

For anyone using red lights with a metal brooder, use caution and monitor it.

Red lights give off radiant heat, which means when the light makes contact with any surface including chicks it will heat up dramatically. The longer the light is focused in area the hotter it will get. So use caution and common sense. I know you have one.

I added the vitamins and they seemed to perk up. I separated them

Yes for sure!! But.... Pasty Butt is not normal. Have no fear of lowering the temps! The chances of them dying from being to hot is way greater than from being to cold....
