Sick flock

Ok thank you. Are the eggs still usable?

The reason they say don't eat the eggs is because the eggs will contain low doses of antibiotics. That won't make you sick but it WILL create a tolerance for any bacteria you may be harboring, same thing applies if you feed the eggs to your other animals. Basically it helps create superbugs that can't be killed by that type of antibiotic in the future.

Of course if someone was deathly allergic to penicillin and you gave them eggs from a hen being treated with penicillin there could be an allergic reaction too.

Instead of wasting the eggs you could always feed them back to the hen/s that are on the antibiotics already.

Hey there,
How are your birds doing? I found out the blood I saw was actually from a scuffle between two birds, so at least it looks like no coccidia at this time thankfully.

Have your birds improved?

That's great news!
My flock has been off the antibiotics for about a week now, I started them on electrolyts four days ago, total cleaned the coop from top to bottom, along with the feeders & waterers. They are still sneezing/coughing, but seem much more active & are eating/drinking a lot more! I also changed their bedding from hay to wood chips (to help with less dust) & I bought that red earth dirt to put under the chips. I haven't lost any more (bonus), so I'm hoping this is the road to recovery ;)
Thank you everyone for your help, it was (is) very much appreciated!
I'll be sure to let you all know if I have any changes...hopefully for the better :)
