Sick of rising fuel prices!

While I cringe when filling my car...I cannot blame the "Big Oil" companies. They are not conspiring to raise the price of oil and gas. If they had that power, they sure would not have allowed oil to be below $20 a barrel several years ago.
It is simply "supply and demand"...if you find it necessary to blame someone, blame the burgeoning economies of China and India. There are billions of people who are trying to rise from abject poverty and better their economies. This means a huge increase in oil consumption as they become wealthier and get to drive a car instead of a bicycle. It is ridiculous to think we are entitled to cheap gas. We are a spoiled country with regards to vehicles and cheap gas. Many other countries have dealt with higher prices for years and years...what do they do? Reduce consumption...ride buses, drive smaller cars, etc. Price is only half your economic equation. The other half is how much gas you buy. Cut back on purchasing and the total amount you spend doesn't change.

After looking at your posting history, I believe that previous members have labelled you a "troll"... and I have to agree.
You may not spend all day online, but I hope the time you do spend is therapeutic and helps you with your personality disorders.

I PMed you. Even I won't air your dirty laundry on a public board. Yes I know all about you. Call me a troll after the things you have done. Tisk tisk

Gas is definitely way too pricey! I certainly do plan when & where I go much more now.

But necessity really does make people really inventive, too. I saw this gentleman on the news a few nights ago who is actually able to use plain ole' H20 with a very small amount of gas. He had disconnected his fuel injection system to do this, I believe. They say he just has a few kinks to work out, but it is working! I sure hope to hear how he is advancing this "new technology" of his. But, then, will they raise the price of water???!

Until, then...."Long Live mes Poulets!!" in my own backyard. I will stay home with them for my vacation this year and they certainly are fun! Now, if I can only get those wasps out of my chicken coop so I can collect those eggs~~But that's another post.......

Edited for Typos~~my own form of "Chicken Scratch!"

"Elderoo, does that chart correspond to your tax records? It certainly doesn't match mine. My taxes have never been anywhere near what's cited for Clinton 1999."

Those figures are correct. Of course they are before deductions and such, however they are easily verifiable.

Anybody can retrofit their car with a Hydrogen Generator to suppliment their fuel. Most report mileage gains of 10-20%. Google Browns Gas.

I've built one, it does work but I have yet to install it in one of my vehicles.

This thread spans the gamut from informed common sense through wishful thinking to breathtaking ignorance.

The bottom line is that the era of cheap energy is over. It wasn't a surprise. If you want to blame someone, look in a mirror. I travel for a living, and I can assure you that America is the only country in the world where the "poor" people are overweight and own cars, TV's, cell phones, computers and digital cameras.

On the bright side, this economic discomfort will motivate people to conserve like they should have been doing all along. I think our quality of life will go up as our standard of living goes down. We won't be able to drive SUV's to the gym in order to walk on treadmills any longer, but we'll get back in touch with the basics of life by walking, bicycling, gardening and keeping a few hens. It'll be healthier psychologically as well as physiologically.

To clean up some misstatements and questions from people....

Cetawin, you are flat out wrong: plus he is a she..so maybe you had dinner with Her and her husband??? (too many cocktails did we??)

Applebees CEO, Julia Stewart, 52. Total 2007 Cash compensation was $3,512,649.

See link:

http://www.forbes.com/finance/mktgu...IdPersonTearsheet.jhtml?passedPersonId=940374

Applebees has a 10% margin.(Shall we now talk bad about Applebee's??)

CEO's, much like baseball/basketball/football players are paid what the market will bear(capitalistic principle, might be foreign to some of you)

Million of People dying: They would die because as the price goes up, so does everyhting else. if you(and I forget who 'you' is, but some prior post) have been paying attention to the news, some 40 countries are trying to hold themselves together after 'the masses' are protesting high food prices. Unhappy populations tend to revolt against the authorities when basic human needs(such as food) is withheld.(Unless the military has a VERY firm grip). High oil price = high food prices. Look at your CBOT today and you will see this.

Kingden(aka Troll as noted by someone other than myself): Those truely are tragic pictures. Nobody likes to see them, or face the reality(as adults) that sometimes unintended consequences occur. Reasonable people don't just open up the valve and purposefully release oil to damage animals or the water(Saddam wasn't reasonable). Yes human's need food and shelter to survive. Unless everyone lives on the farm that food has to be trucked or shipped so the masses can eat. No oil, no trucking, food spoils, and people go hungry, then revolt. (BTW I live on 23 acres generally all tillable, with a couple of draft horses I could survive all oil going away. Wouldn't be easy but my family would still eat). You are a typical nutball far lefty with your series of pictures. May I repeat, NOBODY likes it or gets joy out of accidents like that. But, since we all all adults(right?) sometimes accidents happen. You drive in a car don't you, well sometimes people run lights, plow into you, and you get hurt. But you still ride/drive don't you? I would love to see the % of oil that is spilled compared to the amount that is pumped/shipped/refined. I guarantee you it is a fraction of 1%.

V CHic Chick- not a bad idea, but the resources are there that we shouldn't have to drive a crackerbox. I am all for conservation(and I do), but if someone want sto drive a big vehicle then that is fine.

Minidriver - those tax charts do reflect my household....

There I think that about covers it.....
