This is the most sensible thing that anyone, including myself, has said on this entire thread.

Maybe you don't understand - I like both of those cars but for farm stuff? LOL...that's kinda funny. Where am I gonna put 30 bales of hay in those things?

And thus, all the other blame-pointing stuff is just entirely beside the point.

Right now, CHINA is drilling 60 miles off our Florida coast, with the blessing of Cuba.
The Senate has prevented us from drilling that closely to our own shore for oil!

We've had no significant spill from drilling offshore. Less than .001% (one-thousandth of one percent) has been spilled from the oil platforms at sea. This is from 7 billion barrels pumped during the last 25 years. The horrendous hurricanes did no damage.

DO YOU THINK CHINA WILL HAVE THE SAME TRACK RECORED???

The Alaskan Wildlife Refuge is an area larger than five states (Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island); the area to be drilled would be confined to a very small space, one sixth the size of Dulles Airport.
Will the Senate allow the US to drill? No. We cannot drill the 10.5 BILLION barrels of oil there.

If you want our nation to be energy sufficient, TELL your elected officials you want drilling, or you're voting them out of office.

I don't get it - why do they have to close the thread? People are allowed to have different opinions. I don't personally agree that anyone has the power to stop what is happening - but I also don't agree that this is the end of the world of cheap energy.

Its a rough patch. Remember the 70's? It got better. If we do close this thread I don't think it should be on a pessamistic note i.e. I don't think it is productive to say "that's it folks better get used to having nothing because that is where we're headed."

I'd like to say be responsible, save a little when you can, cut back a little when you can, think of the future, and dream big.

And with that - I'm done!

Or we could just stop burning oil like there's no tomorrow. Let's combine trips, ride bicycles, drive smaller cars, shop locally, dial back the AC, and save some oil for tomorrow.
