That is cool, looking at the maps it appears they will keep expanding the tar sands... good deal.... at least the socialists in canada will let them utilize their natural resources for their intended purpose.....

Enron the documentary clearly shows that supply & demand can & is & shall be manipulated by corporations. So that argument does very little for me. That the gov't will not be affective to do anything about it is also demonstrated in that documentary. For a lay person such of myself this was really brought home by The Corporation another documentary that I thought was very well done. Eye opening both of them if you haven't seen them, I highly recommend

If we're counting on documentaries to educate us about how things work, we're in real trouble. Most documentaries are the vision of their writers and NOT very accurate. Enron was all about sheer accounting manipulation in one company and had nothing to do with the supply and demand of energy nor global energy prices.

Thank God the windfall tax nonsense failed today. If energy companies are taxed like crazy in the US, where do you think they will take their business to avoid the taxes. They are competing in a GLOBAL market and the oil is mainly coming from NON-DOMESTIC sources. Why should we feel entitled to cheap energy prices when we produce such a small percentage of it in the US?

Thank God for chickens! They really help me wind down at the end of the day! I have to stop getting sucked into these types of threads.

If you have a line on "cheap, responsible, clean energy", you'll be a billionaire very soon and you'll go down in history as a great man. Um, why are you wasting time posting on a chicken board?! Get out there and finish the magic engine!

* Someone mentioned the 7O's-- That was a wake-up call that went largely ignored and now we all (U.S.) pay the piper. I heartily agree that our politicians, by and large, both sides of the aisle, thoroughly suck. How do we cut the crap out and get down to business, eh??? As far as oil goes-- Anybody building goat carts out there?? I'm in the market. (Ed: While I'm venting anyway-- How come I can write 'crappy', but I can't shorten it??)

It isn't supply and demand. There is still plenty of oil to go around. The oil market is a speculative one. A little bit of unrest and gas could be harder to get, so prices go up, independent of whether the price actually does go up or not. There's some funny .gov regulations around this that allows it to be so. I don't claim to understand it all, but I do know that it is not supply and demand like other goods.

* I have no doubt there a lot of oil around-- why else would the-- other countries be planting flags all over the bottom of the ocean and in snowy mountains where you can barely breath for lack of oxygen?? We are headed for loggerheads over this sludge somewhere down the line worse by far than Irag-- you better believe it.

That's a more specific page, this site is about shutting down the production or at least controlling where the oil is going.
