Sick Rooster- Need Advice

I have a one year old speckled sussex rooster who is sounding almost like he has a sore throat when he crows. He used to crow just fine and earlier this week he started sounding sick when he crowed. I just looked at him and his comb is looking like it is turning black at the back of it. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with him? I am leaving town right in a few minutes or I would post pics. Thanks!

I'm not sure if this helps or not, but I have a silver duckwing OEGB who was sounding hoarse when he crowed. I gave him Terramycin for 5 days and it helped.

As for the black comb, I'm not sure about that. My RIR's turns a little blue in the back when it rains, but he seems find otherwise. Maybe he has a respiratory issue. If Terramycin doesn't work, he may need to have Tylan 50.

Just my 2 cents, but I'm no expert.
