sick stomach help

Lots of water!
My mom always made us suck on a green olive if we had an upset stomache. Don't know why, but it worked...most of the time.

Our pediatrician tells me faithfully....popsicles...
keeps them hydrated without a large inflow of liquid...
lay still and keep it down at least an hour....
once you get to feeling better...saltines work for me with Sprite or 7-up.
Also...don't go right back to eating regular foods...use the BRAT method...(that's a doctors lingo)
B- banana's
R- Rice (white, no spices)
A- applesauce
T- toast with NOTHING

Hope this helps....Oh, and chicken noodle really does work too..the broth if nothing else.

Hope ya'll get well soon.

Waters the only thing your going to keep down. PLEASE test your blood sugar. If you are too sick to stay on top of it have your hubby or a kid do it. You know that low blood sugar will kill you so don't let it slide

Get well. Stay hydrated and check your sugar,

I was thinking the same thing... hope that's not it. I had a bug like that 2 weeks ago. Hope that's all it is.

Real ginger is good. I think ginger ale doesn't really have "ginger" in it. But whatever helps....

......to you chickabator....an old fashioned remedy for an upset stomach...and it is old fashioned and was passed onto me by my grandmother......stomach feeling off:-

Take one small "shot" of brandy and mix with "shot" of port....sip....it is supposed to settle the stomach back down...I have tried it in the past and it has worked....

Good luck, hope you feel better soon.... and keep taking plenty of fluids.....

If you can get it in your area get some Vernor's Ginger Ale, heat till warm and drink it slowly. Also soda crackers/saltines are good. Drink plenty of fluids, and watch your sugar. When we were sick as kids, my mother would always give us the warm Vernor's and a couple of aspirin. It seemed to work back then. Get well soon.

Chickabator, I think you will start to feel better in about 24-36 hours after onset of your symptoms. It sounds like the stomach virus we had all through our family over the holidays. You will be miserable for a day and then begin to recover. Rest if you can and try to keep hydrated. You'll feel better soon.
