*sigh* I'm loosing my touch. (Warning: Hi-jacked by Em)

Sour, yes you can get the flu even though you got the flu shot. Mini has the flu AGAIN!! Different strain this time according to the docs. It started out as bronchitis last Thursday. The school called me and told me I had to come get her, that she was having problems breathing and was having chest pains when she coughed. Took her to Med Express, they diagnosed bronchitis, gave her Zithromax for 5 days. Ended up taking her back to Med Express (tried the ER but they were PACKED!!!) on Sunday night, they tested her for flu, yep, she has it. They gave her a breathing treatment, and gave me 3 prescriptions to get filled. Guess what I found out??? There are NO 24 hour pharmacies in this area!!!

So she didn't get started on her meds til the next day. Went to Walmart to fill her prescriptions Monday morning....her Tamiflu was over 200 bucks!!!! And that was WITH insurance!!! I was shocked! The clerk wanted to know if I still wanted it and I said "uh, yes..she's sick with the flu..she needs it!!" She has been getting her breathing treatments, her cough medicine, and the Tamiflu and she is not doing any better. If she's no better in the morning (I was told to give the Tamiflu 48 hours to work), she is going to the ER. (or if she gets worse tonight..she will go to the ER). This mess that is going around is nothing to joke about. The doctor told me that even with the flu shot, there are a lot of people getting different strains of the flu and ending up in the hospital. She told me to make sure Mini drank a lot of fluid. It didn't matter if she ate or not, cause she probably wouldn't feel like eating (she doesn't), but not drinking is what is landing so many in the hospital. Anyway, yes, you can get the flu even with the shot. Sorry...

1d3, so very sorry that mini and you are having to deal with this.

One hospital close by had to close down their ER to any 'New' cases and send people to two of the neighboring hospitals because they had no more room. That second time around flu is scary because you are already debilitated when it hits.

Argh. . . . I hate that kind of cold!! Tani, make sure you bundle up!!! I'm freezing just thinking about it!

Me too! It makes my joints ache and my head hurt! I'm bundled up, all right. Wearing leggings under my jeans and two thick sweaters. At least we warm back up into the 70s this weekend.
