Critter nearly gave me a heart attack earlier. He walked up carrying a green rat snake in his hands. "Didn't you just get rid of this guy?" he asked. As I looked at the snake, I could see it was a good bit shorter than the snake I had caught a few days ago - maybe a foot or more. The color was different, too; the other snake had hints of bars/blotches showing through the stripes (possibly a rat snake/corn snake hybrid?). This snake had gotten tangled up in some bird netting that we put on the blueberry bushes, so it's a good thing for it that Critter happened to spot it when he did. As long as this one doesn't try to eat my chickens or rabbits, I reckon it can stay, but I'd better not catch it in my rabbitry or chicken pens!
