Why would anybody go and build a coop first? That's just a guaranteed way of winding up with way more birds than you imagined. If you build a coop and then get hatching eggs, having the coop sitting there idle and empty for weeks and weeks will gnaw at you until you just can't stand it any more and you go and get some birds to put in there, and then when your eggs hatch there are so many reasons that you don't want to mix the young birds with the older ones so you wind up needing to build at least one more coop anyway.

I think I am losing my touch, with reality, I just got 3 dozen eggs to put in the incubator. I am not the least bit ready for it. coop not built, and neither is my brooder.....

As long as the 'bator is ready, you're good to go... but I've been known to have a loose grip on reality, so maybe don't listen to me.
