*sigh* I'm loosing my touch. (Warning: Hi-jacked by Em)

It's getting to the time of day when bunnies tend to take naps, so excuse me if I seem a bit slow (or anyway, slower than usual). If the Queen has moved to Mississippi, wouldn't that make her more or less officially a mud cat rather than a mud hen? Or do we just not go there?

Mud cougar? Let's not go there.

Major storms predicted here too. One right now is tracking to the South of me.

Berta Brown and Lobo Gold are both heralding it's approach. Chase and Kid are cowering in their coops. General Sy is complaining that it's too hot. Aunt Jayne and the puppies are safely ensconced in the cellar. Everything has been given fresh cold water. If Sourland disappears it probably means that we have lost power.

It's so hot and humid today, that the air conditioner has been running steadily. I can't believe that I actually fought the Princess about getting central air. Sometimes I'm such a dummy.

Can't imagine life without it now.

When we had this house built, it was sort of a given that it would have a heat pump as a heating/cooling system. When the original gave out a year or so ago, Hubby thought we were fine with quartz heaters in a couple of the rooms during the winter. He can't sleep when it's hot and muggy, though, so he thought a couple of window AC units would do well enough - until he got the power bill! He tries to dump the blame on me for the decision to get the heat pump replaced. Gads, Sour, he does sound like you, doesn't he? Same manufacturer, different model year?

Yeah, they only produce a certain number of this model each year. Guess you have to be very lucky to find one of us.

My favorite line in situations like this is, "I don't know why you fought me on that." She responds with a harsh look. (Well, as harsh as she is capable of.)

lady, by any chance is your husband German/Scottish? I just blame everything on my DNA. When we saw 'Braveheart', the Princess grabbed my leg and said, "All these years I thought that it was alcoholism and insanity. You can't help your behavior. It's in your genes." Yep, I'll take that excuse.

Spook likes his central air, heat pump.

I grew up with stoker coal. Don't want that again. Big
furance in the basement that you had to fill and clean
twice a day.

Then went uptown...mom and dad had a woodburner
put in. My brothers and I got to chop the wood...with an
ax.

I still prefer a handax to a chainsaw. Or a good crosscut.

But I have thoughts of maybe a pellet stove or one of those
gas heaters this coming winter.

505, WELCOME! Do you realize that Friday is the one year anniversary of our, oops, YOUR thread? We're going to throw a big party.
